December 7, 2011: As part of the Heyman Center's Writing Lives Series, Hisham Matar, author of the Man Booker shortlisted novel "In the Country of Men", and more recently, "Anatomy of a Disappearance", spoke on "Literature, Exile, and the 'Arab Spring.'" 's Writing Lives Series. Bashir Abu-Manneh of Barnard College, served as interlocutor.

This talk was moderated by Saskia Sassen, Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology at Columbia University.
